Happy New Carpets!

Thank You for Choosing Easipay Carpets

Thank you so much for choosing Easipay for your new carpets. We’re genuinely grateful you trusted us with your home, and we want to make sure you get the very best out of your flooring from day one.

This guide has everything you need to keep your carpet looking fresh, soft and beautiful for years to come — plus what to do if anything doesn’t feel quite right after fitting.

Your First Week With Your New Carpet

The first few days after your carpet is fitted are important. Carpets need a short settling-in period to adjust to room temperature, humidity and the gripper rods underneath.

Here’s what to expect and what we recommend:

1. Vacuuming (Important)

  • Your fitters will rarely vacuum after fitting — this is normal.

  • You can vacuum straight away, but avoid the rotating brush/roller for the first 3–5 days.

  • Use suction only. This protects the carpet while it settles, especially around the edges and grippers.

You’ll likely see loose fibres in the first few days — this is normal and will reduce once the carpet has had a couple of vacuums.

2. The Carpet Setting In

  • A new carpet may feel firmer underfoot for the first week as it “beds in”.

  • Any slight odour from the backing will fade within 24–48 hours with ventilation.

  • If you see small indentations from furniture, they will lift naturally over time.

Common Carpet Issues (and How to Fix Them)

Most post-fit issues are completely normal and very easy to solve. Here’s a list of the common things people ask us about — and what you can do.

1. Ripples / Waves in the Carpet

This often looks like a gentle ripple or bubble across the carpet within the first few days or weeks.

Why it happens:
Temperature changes, humidity, and the carpet relaxing off the roll.

What to do:

Many ripples settle on their own after 1–2 weeks.

If they remain, we’ll arrange a restretch.

2. Carpet Lifting from Grippers

This is uncommon but can happen if the carpet needs a tighter stretch or due to footfall on stairs.

What to do:
Contact us — this is a quick fix for our fitters. (please see above contact details)

3. Shading / Pile Direction Marks

Carpet pile naturally bends in different directions, especially after vacuuming or moving furniture.

Looks like:
Light patches or dark patches depending on the angle.

This is normal.
A quick vacuum or brushing by hand usually resets the pile.

4. Furniture Dents

Heavy furniture compresses the pile over time. Common (pretty much guaranteed) under Sofas and Tables.

To lift dents:

  • Place an ice cube in the dent and let it melt.
  • Blot excess water.
  • Gently lift the fibres with a spoon or your fingers.
  • Vacuum lightly.

5. Loose Fibres & Pilling

New carpets often shed fibres — this is completely normal and not a fault.

A few vacuums during the first week sorts this out.

6. Seams

It’s very rare we need to do seams on carpets as we’re one of the few companies offering 5m wide rolls. On the off-chance your fit required a seam:

Seams are often not noticeable at all, but may be visible in certain lighting or on certain carpet types.

If a seam looks open or uneven, contact us — we’re happy to check anything you’re unsure about.

Common Stains and How to Remove Them.

Accidents happen — here’s a complete, easy-follow guide for the stains we see most often.

Before you start any cleaning:

  • Always blot, never rub, as rubbing pushes stains deeper.

  • Test cleaning solutions on an unseen patch first.

1. Tea & Coffee

Solution:

  • 1 teaspoon of mild washing-up liquid
  • 1 cup warm water
  • Optional: a drop of white vinegar

How to clean:

  1. Blot up as much liquid as possible.
  2. Apply the solution with a clean cloth.
  3. Blot until the stain lifts.
  4. Rinse with cold water.
  5. Blot dry.

2. Food & Mud

Solution:

  • Warm water
  • Small amount of washing-up liquid

How to clean:

  1. Let mud dry, then vacuum.
  2. Dab with cleaning solution.
  3. Blot (don’t scrub).
  4. Rinse with cold water and blot dry.

3. Red Wine

Solution:

  • Blot immediately
  • Mix 1 tablespoon white vinegar + 1 tablespoon washing-up liquid + 2 cups warm water

How to clean:

  1. Blot until no more transfers.
  2. Apply solution and continue blotting.
  3. Rinse and blot dry.

4. Pet Urine

Solution:

  • 1 part white vinegar
  • 1 part warm water
  • A sprinkle of bicarbonate of soda afterwards

How to clean:

  1. Blot up liquid.
  2. Apply vinegar solution and blot.
  3. Once dry, sprinkle bicarb and leave for 8 hours.
  4. Vacuum.

5. Grease or Oil

Solution:

  • Cornflour or bicarbonate of soda
  • Small amount of rubbing alcohol (if needed)

How to clean:

  1. Sprinkle cornflour/bicarb to absorb grease.
  2. Let sit 1 hour, then vacuum.
  3. Dab with alcohol if residue remains.

6. Candle Wax

How to clean:

  1. Let wax harden.
  2. Scrape off gently with a spoon.
  3. Place kitchen towel over remaining wax.
  4. Iron on low heat over the towel.
  5. Wax melts into the towel — replace as needed.

Extra Tips to Keep Your Carpet Looking New

Regular Vacuuming

After the first week, vacuum 2–3 times a week (or more with pets/kids).

Use Mats at Entrances

This reduces dirt transferred from outside and extends carpet life.

Avoid Harsh Chemistries

Bleach and strong solvents damage fibres — stick to mild detergents.

Rotate Furniture Occasionally

Helps the carpet wear evenly.
