Thank you for choosing Easipay for your new vinyl flooring. We know how much of a difference fresh flooring can make to your home, and we’re here to help you get the very best from it for years to come.
This guide walks you through aftercare, cleaning, spill protection and what to do if anything doesn’t feel quite right after fitting.
Vinyl flooring is durable, easy to clean and perfect for busy homes — but the first week after fitting is important to ensure everything settles properly and stays protected.
Our fitters do not apply silicone sealant as part of the fitting service. If your vinyl has been installed in bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms or anywhere water is likely, we highly recommend sealing the edges.
Why sealing matters:
Vinyl itself is waterproof,
BUT if water seeps into the subfloor it can cause:
staining from underneath,
lifting around the edges,
long-term damage to the subfloor.
What to use:
A good-quality silicone sealant
Choose a colour that matches your vinyl, or use white if your skirting boards are white.
Where to seal:
Along skirting boards
Around toilets and sinks
Around baths and shower trays
Any area where water may pool or splash
It’s a quick job that makes a huge difference and protects your flooring from long-term moisture issues.
You can mop your vinyl immediately after fitting — just avoid soaking the floor.
Use a slightly damp mop with warm water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner.
Avoid steam mops for the first 7 days.
Vinyl flooring is fitted with adhesive which needs to cure. For the first week:
Avoid dragging furniture — lift and place instead.
Heavy furniture may cause dents at first; these usually rise back over time.
Small visual waves or slight raised areas can appear initially as the vinyl relaxes. These typically flatten within a few days.
Most post-fit issues are completely normal and very easy to solve. Here’s a list of the common things people ask us about — and what you can do.
This can happen in areas with regular moisture (bathrooms, kitchens) if not sealed.
Solution:
Apply silicone sealant — it prevents water from getting underneath and causing lifting.
If lifting has already begun, contact us and we can advise on the best fix.
This can occasionally happen in the first few days while the vinyl settles.
Solution:
This can appear if the vinyl is adjusting to temperature.
Solution:
Often solved with simple edge trim, threshold bars, or silicone sealant.
Vinyl is scratch-resistant, but not scratch-proof.
To prevent scratches:
Use floor protectors under furniture.
Lift furniture instead of dragging it.
Avoid abrasive scrubbers.
Sometimes caused by moisture underneath or by rubber-backed mats.
Solution:
Avoid rubber-backed mats — choose vinyl-friendly or fabric mats.
Ensure proper sealing to prevent moisture ingress.
Vinyl flooring is one of the easiest floors to clean — most spills wipe straight off — but here are simple instructions for tougher stains.
Golden rules:
Clean spills quickly.
Never use bleach or abrasive chemicals directly (dilute them).
Avoid harsh scouring pads.
Solution: Mild washing-up liquid + warm water
How to clean:
Wipe away excess.
Clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
